The head of the fantastic line-up of digital ambassadors is none other than Saoirse the Penguin. Saoirse and her friends are on a mission to ignite the Christmas spirit, inviting both locals and visitors to immerse themselves in the festivities, enjoy family-friendly events, and, most importantly, support local businesses by shopping locally.
Remarkable bespoke installations will be the centrepiece of this year’s festivities, transforming the town centre. emotion media, a creative service company based in the RDI hub, has collaborated with talented artists and primary and secondary school students to create these captivating installations. All of whom have volunteered their time. The trail is designed to allow locals and visitors to experience the stunning visuals up close and personal. It’s sure to be a delightful visual treat for everyone who visits. From early December you can follow the trail from window to window by downloading the Christmas Window Art Trail and map from our website.
During the festive season, Killorglin’s town centre will be illuminated with lights on Upper and Lower Bridge Street, a giant Christmas tree in the Square, a life-size nativity scene at Library Place and St. James Church will be a glowing with new festive lighting. Local businesses will also participate in the festive mood by decorating their windows, contributing to the town’s charming ambience.
Shane McElroy, Chairman of the Killorglin Chamber Alliance, said: ‘Make sure to mark your calendars for Santa’s arrival on Saturday, December 9th, at Library Place from 1 pm onwards. Join in the festivities with carol singing by the Fame Stage School, music by DJ Donal, and an opportunity to meet Santa himself. Additionally, the Memory Tree Ceremony on Saturday, December 23rd at Library Place at 7 pm will allow the community to come together and celebrate the memory of loved ones through an ecumenical service.’
Flora the Flamingo encourages everyone to enjoy some festive cheer at one of the many cosy pubs and stylish eateries, catering to every taste and budget. It’s the perfect way to create cherished memories with family and friends.
Cyril the Crocodile highlights the exceptional locally owned and operated businesses in Killorglin, where you can snap up your holiday décor, scrumptious Christmas food, unique gifts, festive outfits, and more.
This year the Killorglin Christmas Markets will take place on Saturday, December 2nd, Sunday, December 3rd, Saturday, December 9th and Sunday, December 10th at St. Michael’s Church Hall, starting at 11 am to 5 pm. You can immerse yourself in a fantastic showcase of local artisans and food trucks.

Join in the festive fun at Killorglin Library with a variety of events and activities to delight the kids this holiday season. The lineup includes:
- Toy Sleepover – Friday, December 1st (toy drop off in the afternoon with toy pick up on Saturday, December 2nd)
- Storytime ‘Christmas Tree Themed’ – Saturday, December 9th at 10:30 am

- Christmas-themed colouring – every Saturday in December
The much-anticipated ‘Best Christmas Window Display Competition’ is back, and all local retailers are encouraged to participate. Their creative displays will help make Killorglin Town even more enchanting this December. The competition is open to all retailers and there’s no need for formal entry. The public will have the chance to choose the overall winner from a shortlist. The public vote will open from Wednesday, December 13th until Friday, December 22nd at 6 pm. The overall winner will be presented with a trophy and certificate.
