Road Closures and Traffic Advisory for Puck Fair 2024

As we approach one of Ireland’s oldest and most beloved festivals, the Puck Fair, we want to ensure everyone is well-informed about the necessary road closures and traffic diversions that will be in place to facilitate this grand event. Hosted in Killorglin, Puck Fair 2024 is set to bring a flurry of excitement, culture, and increased traffic to our town.

Temporary Road Closures:

Kerry County Council has announced the following temporary road closures to accommodate the festival:

  • From 6:00 p.m. on August 9th to 1:00 a.m. on August 10th, 2024:
    • Market Street
    • Lower Bridge Street from Bianconi Inn to the Square (Traffic Island)
  • From 6:00 a.m. on August 10th to 1:00 a.m. on August 11th, 2024:
    • Upper Bridge Street
    • The Square (To Macks Corner)
    • Lower Bridge Street (To Bianconi Inn)
    • Market Street
  • From 6:00 a.m. on August 11th to 1:00 a.m. on August 12th, 2024:
    • Upper Bridge Street
    • The Square (To Macks Corner)
    • Lower Bridge Street (To Bianconi Inn)
    • Market Street
  • From 6:00 a.m. on August 12th to 1:00 a.m. on August 13th, 2024:
    • Upper Bridge Street
    • The Square (To Macks Corner)
    • Lower Bridge Street (To Bianconi Inn)
    • Market Street
  • From 6:00 a.m. on August 10th to 1:00 a.m. on August 11th, 2024:
    • Langford Street (from Macks Corner to the entrance to the Paddocks)
  • From 6:00 p.m. on August 9th to 1:00 a.m. on August 13th, 2024:
    • The Mill Car Park
  • From 9:00 a.m. on August 9th to 9:00 a.m. on August 13th, 2024:
    • Junction Railway Road / Aldi Carpark to Junction Railway Road / School Road (the newly opened road that links Iveragh Road to School Road).

Traffic Diversions:

A traffic diversion system will be in place on the main approaches to the town to manage the flow of vehicles effectively. We ask all drivers to follow the diversion signs and instructions from traffic personnel.

Objections:

Any objections to these road closures should be submitted in writing, marked “Road Closure,” to the Administrative Officer, Roads and Transportation Department, County Buildings, Tralee, County Kerry, or by e-mail to no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, 22nd July 2024.

As Puck Fair falls on a weekend this year, we anticipate extra traffic and a higher number of visitors. We urge everyone to exercise patience and understanding as we all strive to make this festival a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.
