Killorglin’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade – A Celebration of Community and Culture
St. Patrick’s Day in Killorglin was nothing short of spectacular, with a massive turnout filling the streets to celebrate our heritage, our people, and our vibrant town. The atmosphere was electric, the smiles were endless, and the pride in our community was on full display.
A Parade to Remember
The parade was led by the Killorglin Fire Brigade, a crowd favorite every year. With lights flashing and sirens blaring, they kicked off the celebrations in style, thrilling both young and old alike. Their presence always brings excitement, and we’re grateful for their continued service to our town.
Following closely behind was the Killorglin & District Pipe Band. Since reforming in 2010, they have been a massive asset to our area. For the last 15 years, they have brought music, tradition, and a sense of pride to our town. Their performance was, as always, incredible—both in sight and sound. At Killorglin Chamber Alliance, we are committed to supporting the band in their recruitment efforts to ensure this valuable resource is preserved for generations to come.
We were honored to have our very own Olympian, Zoe Hyde, as this year’s Grand Marshal. Zoe’s achievements have made our community proud, and seeing her lead the parade was a truly special moment. Her dedication and success are an inspiration to us all, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her represent Killorglin on the world stage.

The parade continued with the participation of sports clubs and schools from across the area. Coaches and teachers, who already give so much of their time to our young people, went the extra mile to ensure the kids had the opportunity to march proudly through the town. Their efforts are invaluable, and it was heartwarming to see so many young faces enjoying the celebration.
A True Community Effort
It was also fantastic to see so many local businesses taking part, adding to the energy and excitement of the day. The support from our business community is a testament to the strong sense of togetherness we have in Killorglin.
One of the most special aspects of this year’s parade was the presence of groups from all over the world—people who now call Killorglin their home. St. Patrick’s Day is a celebration of Irish heritage, but at its core, it is also a celebration of immigration. The very first St. Patrick’s Day parade was held in Florida in 1601, organized by Irish immigrants who no doubt felt alone and isolated. Today, we remember their struggles and take this opportunity to ensure that all who come to Killorglin feel welcome and valued in our community.

Killorglin is a town that embraces culture, community, and hard work. We are committed to making it the best place to Live, Play, and Thrive, and today’s celebration was a perfect reflection of that vision.
Finally, a huge thank you must go to the St. Patrick’s Day Committee. The months of hard work and dedication made today possible, and we are incredibly grateful for their efforts in organising such a fantastic event.
Here’s to another amazing St. Patrick’s Day in Killorglin—until next year! ☘️
