150 Holes for Jack – A Golf Challenge in Memory of Jack O’Grady
This February, two longtime friends, Dermot O’Grady and Nicholas Plunkett-Dillon, are taking on an extraordinary endurance test at Dooks Golf Club—playing 150 holes of golf in just two days!
This incredible challenge is in memory of Jack O’Grady, Dermot’s beloved son, who passed away over a year ago after a courageous battle with cancer. To honour Jack’s spirit and raise much-needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society, Dermot and Nicholas will push themselves to their limits, golfing through winter conditions and limited daylight in what would be a tough feat even in summer.
A Challenge with a Meaning
Jack O’Grady was full of life, kindness, and determination. In his honour, this golf challenge is more than just a test of stamina—it’s a heartfelt tribute and an opportunity to make a difference. Nicholas originally took on the 150-hole challenge as a teenager for charity, and when he suggested doing it again, Dermot joined in to help support a cause that touches so many families.

A Gruelling Feat
Most golfers play 18 holes in a round, with 36 holes in a day being a tough challenge. But Dermot and Nicholas will triple that effort each day, battling unpredictable winter conditions and racing against limited daylight to complete 75 holes per day. This challenge will test not just their endurance but their determination to make a real impact in Jack’s name.
Follow Their Journey
Dermot and Nicholas will be providing updates throughout the challenge, sharing their progress, photos, and fundraising milestones. Keep an eye on Killorglin.ie and social media for updates as they take on this monumental test.
This is more than just a charity event—it’s a community coming together to honour Jack and support the fight against cancer. Let’s get behind Dermot and Nicholas and make every hole count!
