Christmas magic returns to Killorglin

Killorglin Town will sparkle this festive season as the Christmas magic returns spectacularly.
Santa comes to town on Saturday, December 10th so why not join in the festivities at Library Place from 3 pm? Enjoy carol singing from Fame Stage School, DJ Donal and meet the big man himself while the Memory Tree Ceremony will allow everyone to come together and celebrate lost loved ones with an ecumenical service on Saturday, December 17th. Memory Cards cost €10 and are available at Bunkers, Eurospar or by texting +353869895419.
Shane McElroy, Chairman of the Killorglin Chamber Alliance, said: ‘Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and I’m delighted that once again we can spread a little Christmas cheer with the return of the many in-person community-focused events. It’s a great opportunity to soak up the festive atmosphere and pick up some unique Christmas gifts from the many local independent retailers.’
Upper and Lower Bridge Street will be illuminated, the giant Christmas tree will light up the Square, while at Library Place the life-size crib will take centre stage. The business community Christmas display windows will also add to the great festive atmosphere.
Not only will Killorglin dazzle this season, but you can also head along to the magical Christmas markets at The Fishery for a festive hot drink and pick up some unique gifts. It runs every weekend from 10 am to 5 pm in the run-up to Christmas.
Enjoy some festive cheer with family and friends at one of the many cosy pubs and stylish eateries which are perfect for every taste and budget.
The town has great locally owned and operated businesses where you can pick up your holiday décor, scrumptious Christmas food, gifts, festive outfits and more.
Get the crayons and paint out, sharpen those pencils, and enter in killorglin.ie’s Children’s Christmas Colouring Competition for a chance to win some great prizes. More information can be found here.
Killorglin businesses why not take part in our ‘Best Christmas Window Display Competition’? We would encourage all local retailers to pull out the stops in this fun and festive competition and help us make our town even more attractive this December. There is no need to formally enter the competition. A shortlist was announced on Thursday, December 15th 2022, with the public vote open on that evening. Read more and vote here. The overall winner will be presented with a trophy and certificate.
‘The Christmas in Killorglin initiatives and events simply wouldn’t be possible without the great support, enthusiasm and expertise from our committee, service providers, volunteers, and participants. Thank you also to our sponsors who fund all the events’, concluded Shane.
The Christmas in Killorglin marketing initiative will be supported with a poster and social media campaign.
